Wein+Markt: 92 points for two Unanimous wines
The German wine trade magazine devotes its September special to Ribera del Duero. Unanimous Santa Cruz 2022 is the top-scoring white, and Unanimous Finca la Tejera 2023 adds another 92 points among the single-vineyard reds.
Wein+Markt, the German business magazine for the wine trade and producers, publishes a special on Ribera del Duero in its September 2026 issue with a title that says it all: «Spitzenweine, die in jedes Regal gehören», top wines that belong on every shelf. The selection comes from a large tasting and is arranged by style: whites, rosés, high-altitude reds and single-vineyard reds.
Unanimous Santa Cruz 2022, our Albillo Mayor, leads the whites with 92 points, ahead of every other white in the selection.
Among the single-vineyard reds, Unanimous Finca la Tejera 2023 also scores 92 points, alongside some of Ribera’s historic names. The magazine describes it as follows: «Opaque dark colour. High ripeness, opulent and lush, with dark chocolate and plenty of volume. Noticeable sweetness from the alcohol – gripping and concentrated, a little more of everything».
The report explains why Ribera produces wines like these: vineyards between 720 and over 1,000 metres above sea level, winters of snow and frost, summers of up to 40 °C and differences of around 20 °C between day and night during ripening. It also highlights the old bush vines, often more than 80 years old, and Albillo Mayor as the great white grape of the appellation. These 92 points add to the 95 that Decanter gave Unanimous Santa Cruz 2022 this month and to the 18 out of 20 for Unanimous Finca la Tejera 2021 on JancisRobinson.com. Three publications from three different countries reaching the same conclusion.
